Can you tell us about yourself and what drew you in this role?

My name is Melvin Thibodeau, and I grew up in the Acadian Peninsula. I have a bachelor degree in adult education from Moncton University, a bachelor in social sciences from Ottawa University and I’m licensed therapist in counseling from the Centre de formation professionnelle en relations humaines institute (CFPRH), Brossard, Quebec. My professional background includes adult education, counseling therapy, and extensive experience working with a diverse clientele. Over the years, I have provided support to civil servants, members of parliament, senators (for over 15 years), vocational rehabilitation clients (4 years), and served as a manager of linguistic schools in both the National Capital Region and New Brunswick. Additionally, I was honored to be nominated to represent the public on the Complaints Committee of the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants, a role I held for six years.

With expertise in business leadership and management, my mission is to build strong relationships with businesses, ministries, and organizations. I focus on analyzing their linguistic needs within human resources departments, fostering partnerships with recruitment teams, and engaging more stakeholders in my geographical area to drive collaboration and innovation.

What are your hobbies or interests outside of work?

Outside of work, I value spending quality time with friends and making space to enjoy life. I have a passion for creative pursuits, including music, art, reading, and traveling. I also take great pleasure in engaging in meaningful conversations about values and diverse cultures, fostering an open environment where others feel free to express themselves without judgment.

What skills or experiences do you bring that you’re most proud of?

I’m proud to be part of a strong team that’s focused on success and giving each team member his or her rightful place. My adaptability, compassion, awareness and work ethic are sure to be assets to the organization.

If you could have any superpower, what would it be and why?

If I had a magic wand, I would choose the ability to read minds. This power would enhance understanding, facilitate deeper connections, and help resolve conflicts more effectively. I’d also love the ability to move effortlessly and swiftly from one place to another, giving me a sense of true freedom, limitless endurance, boundless strength, and unwavering resilience

What does inclusion mean to you?

Inclusion, to me, means creating opportunities for individuals to be genuinely welcomed and valued as part of a group. It fosters a sense of belonging, strengthens connections, and boosts self-esteem. Inclusion also reflects the vision of building a more supportive and inclusive society where everyone can thrive together
